Entry form

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Public Service Data/AI Challenge. Whether you want to submit an idea or join a team, please complete the short form below. Note that there is a 300-word limit on your personal statement, and ideas must be described within 400 words.

Before completing the form, please read through the information on our Get Involved page, which explains the kinds of ideas we’re looking for and the commitment required of participants.

It is important that your manager is aware you are applying to the Challenge, and approves the time you will need to dedicate to the project. Please show them the information for managers available on the site, and secure their agreement before applying.

If you wish, you may save your application and return to it later – perhaps pasting in texts that you’ve written using another platform. Just click the ‘Save and Continue Later’ button at the foot of the page, and you’ll be sent an email enabling you to access your part-completed form at a later date. Don’t forget that the deadline for applications is Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

Good luck with your application!

Pre-application advice and support

Public servants interested in submitting an idea to the Data/AI Challenge are invited to first participate one of the following activities:

Design Thinking Resource

If you have an idea that you want to strengthen and take a bit further before submitting it to the Data/AI Challenge, design thinking can help! Check out these videos prepared by Statistics Canada’s Innovation team to learn more about design thinking, where you will be challenged to understand the user of your idea, consider your assumptions, and then redefine your idea all while answering the essential question “Why?”.

English: How can Design Thinking Help

French: Comment la pensée design peut-elle aider

PDF Bilingual Script: Design Thinking Video Script

If you have any questions or comments about these videos, please contact Natasha Zaletel Dean, Statistics Canada’s Innovation Manager.

Office Hours

If you have an idea that you’d like to submit for the Government of Canada Public Service Data/AI Challenge but want to talk it through?   Join members of the organizing committee for a brief conversation to talk through your idea, ask questions and get advice prior to submitting it to the Data/AI Challenge.

Office hours will take place virtually via Microsoft Teams during the submission period.

Office hour time slots are available on a first come first serve basis. To sign up for a 20 minute time slot, please complete the following PSDAIC Office Hours Registration Form.

If the office hour times do not work for you or if you have any questions, please reach out to  Natasha Zaletel Dean, Statistics Canada’s Innovation Manager.

Data/AI Challenge Alumni

If you submitted an idea last year that was not selected for the shortlist/longlist, this is your chance to receive feedback on your idea, strengthen it, and resubmit it to the Data/AI Challenge for the fourth iteration! Contact Natasha Zaletel Dean, Statistics Canada, to obtain feedback on your previously submitted idea. We will work with you to understand the feedback and can provide you with advice to refresh your idea for this iteration.
